This version of the RM-5 is designed to operate from -50°C to 70°C. To achieve this low temperature range, we use a specially designed stepper motor, Molykote 33 grease on all bearings and worm gear, and the housing is also modified to allow proper bearing fit at -50°C. The RM-5 design takes advantage of a single preloaded crossed roller bearing for the table movement. This design approach eliminates the use of a dual bearing configuration thus improving on axial runout and wobble. This rotary table utilizes a worm gear drive with available gear ratios of 72:1 and 36:1. The RM-5 is available with an optical home switch and 4000 CPR rotary encoder.
We use an Envirotronics thermal chamber to verify operation of each stage at the temperature extremes.
